Hey everybody, my name is Winter Wallace. I was born and raised in K.C.K; however, I currently reside in the South Kansas City area. I am a recent graduate from KU with a degree in Applied Behavioral Sciences specializing in Community Health and Development, a concentration in Psychology and a certificate in Service Learning. I love chilling and relaxing, doing random spontaneous fun activities, hanging out and enjoying the people around me. I also, love reading, cooking new recipes, dancing and listening to music. I truly enjoy working with the youth, as well as improving our community, so I am definitely jazzed and ready for action!
Hello! I am Jessica Miller, born and raised in the KCMO area. During my four years of high school at Kearney High I participated in various activities from youth group to cheerleading to 4-H horse shows. After a lovely high school experience I continued my education at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa. Once I discovered my passion for learning about people and groups that influence them, I majored in sociology. The winters in Iowa nearly killed me but during my time at NWC I traveled to Seattle, Louisiana and Southern Missouri on various volunteer trips. Last summer in Seattle, I worked with refugees which impacted my life in a positive way. All of my volunteer experiences have greatly influenced my life and I desired to continue my volunteer service after I graduated from college, hence YVCKC. I love reading, being outside and spending time with family and friends. I have no idea what’s in store for next year; graduate school, traveling, working at a non-profit, whatever it is I want to continue to impact my community and the world in a positive, peaceful way.
Hello there, my name is Stefanie Cole. I moved to Kansas City in the spring of 2007. I am originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma. I graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. in Political Science. As a result, I bleed orange, GO POKES! I intend to pursue a career as a teacher, a writer, and activist; working in higher education and community development. I enjoy a wide variety of activities including: baking, reading, playing board games, dancing, painting, knitting, creating, swimming, biking, reading, writing, cooking, eating, debating, relating, sewing, and old fashioned fun of any kind. I enjoy thinking of myself as an old lady in training wheels, because I think they are the sweetest and coolest people. I want to work with kids because I see a future where education is challenging, rewarding, and hands on. Enrichment programs involving service learning fit with these ideals, and that is why I decided to join the YVC.
Hey everyone, my name is Lacey Bitter. I’ve lived in Oregon all mylife — I grew up in a small southern Oregon town called Roseburg but went to college at the University of Portland. I just graduated with a degree in communications and Spanish and decided to go an adventure and move to the Midwest. I love music — I’ve never met anyone more obsessed with the Beatles — and I also love going to concerts. Mostly I go see obscure alternative bands but sometimes I go to major shows like Coldplay, who I saw this last summer. I also love to read (especially Harry Potter books) and adore animals, especially my dogs Lily and Whoopi and cat Cuddles back in Oregon.
